The loneliness of a social butterfly

Hello dear reader, I am back after quite a long time. Life has been throwing curve balls at me and I was busy dodging them. Anyways lets jump head first into our topic shall we?!

Today, the world that we live in is pretty much individualistic. While on one hand it strives for self realization ,on the other hand it sorta absolves social betterment as a whole. Let's be honest here , being a better version of oneself is purely a choice (wise one at that) , consistently striving to make conscious efforts is even more of a choice than a norm. How many of us commit to it? Only a few right! With this thought in mind , we need to delve deeper into the thought process of our generation.
With the onset of technological boom, our peeps are becoming more glued to the screen than to actual people.(This writer is no exception to this problem uwu) Hence, we are losing valuable and meaningful connections with others. Social media brought the world closer but distanced people.
I know ,I know , you have heard the above rhetoric before! But here's the catch, with social media in full rage , insecurities , toxicity, trust issues and misunderstanding is at their peak. It is revealing the ugly fangs and claws of many problematic personalities, as a result the average yoke is confused. As humans we have a habit of comparing ourselves with others and this is becoming a serious issue. Extreme beauty standards , fitness goals, relationship goals , friendship goals and much more are putting undue pressure on us. And do I even need to start with the comment sections!!!! Those places should be declared as mini windows of hell! (Social media needs to upgrade its policy on comment sections!)
This scenario in the end results in poor quality of life, lower self esteem, feeling of not belonging anywhere, loneliness with a capital L and of course a buffet full of mental health issues. Picturesque places , frame worthy families, dopamine hitting couples, make an average Gen Z question their existence because their life isn't really this pretty. AS IT SHOULD! WAKE UP the peeps of my generation.
None of us lead perfectly organized and aesthetically pleasing lives in actuality; we are all equally chaotic. We are simply navigating the ups and downs of life. It is important to keep in mind that what is portrayed on social media is not always a true reflection of reality. Happiness does not come from striving for perfection but from being compassionate towards ourselves. Ultimately, social media can serve as a pleasant escape, as long as we view it as a source of entertainment rather than a standard to measure ourselves against.
